About this hash tool
Type or paste any text and the MD5, SHA-1, SHA-256, SHA-384 and SHA-512 digests are computed live. The SHA family uses the browser's native WebCrypto API, while MD5 is a pure JavaScript implementation; text is UTF-8 encoded before hashing, so results match command-line tools like md5sum and shasum exactly.
Hashes are commonly used for checksums, deduplication and cache keys. Note that MD5 and SHA-1 are no longer cryptographically secure — prefer SHA-256 or stronger for signatures and password storage. All computation happens locally; nothing is uploaded.
