About this word counter
Paste or type text and the page instantly shows total characters, characters excluding whitespace, words, sentences, paragraphs and lines. Word counting is CJK-aware: each Chinese, Japanese or Korean character counts as one word, each run of Latin letters or digits counts as one word, and the two are summed.
A reading-time estimate uses 300 CJK characters per minute and 200 English words per minute, taking whichever is larger. Everything is computed locally in your browser — handy for checking essay limits or trimming social posts before you publish.
